2024 AGLOA Outstanding Educator: Summer Anderson

Congratulations to Summer Anderson, moderator of the St. Pius X School’s Academic Games team, for being selected as one of the AGLOA Outstanding Educators for 2024. Outstanding moderators and coaches are recognized each year by their peers at the AGLOA National Tournament. These individuals have contributed over an extended period of time in a quality manner to their own programs and have also made significant contributions at the national tournament.

Several individuals nominated Summer for her dedication to Academic Games, which starts with the St. Pius X program but extends beyond it. She began her involvement at St. Pius X when her daughter started participating in the games. Summer assumed the duties of team coach and moderator when nobody could easily take over the position and continued to work with the team once her daughter moved on to high school. She has mostly worked with Elementary and Middle Division students but opens her practices to players from all schools and divisions.

Summer’s teams have earned numerous individual and team awards at the local and national levels. She encourages her players to constantly learn new material and quizzes them regularly to be able to quickly recall that information.
