2016 Spring Awards Ceremony
The New Orleans Academic Games League hosted its 2016 Spring Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 5, at Brother Martin High School. Elementary, middle and high school students were honored. Emcee for the evening was league director, Brother Neal Golden, S.C.
The awards ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of NOAGL students in the spring semester tournaments of Presidents and On-Sets, the top five individuals with the best overall combined scores in their division—Sweepstakes champions, and all students who attend the 2016 AGLOA National Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia. Throughout the different levels of competitions and tournaments played, a variety of schools in the league garnered awards.
Sixty students from fourteen different schools represented NOAGL at the 2016 AGLOA National Tournament. Many of the same students who won local awards throughout the school year placed at the national tournament. Returning from Nationals with first place finishes were:
- Nelson Finley, Middle Division Individual Propaganda Champion
- Eli Zitler, Middle Division Individual Presidents Champion
- Audubon Charter, Middle Division Team Propaganda Champions
- Caleb Rogers, Junior Division Individual Presidents Champion
- Jesuit-Ben Franklin-NOLA Homeschoolers, Junior Division Team Presidents Champions
- Aroosa Cheema, Senior Division Individual Presidents Champion
- Hunter Mathas, Senior Division Individual Equations Champion & Individual Sweepstakes Champion
- Dominique Lousteau, Outstanding Senior Recipient
